If you haven’t already noticed, many fun games have been programmed using this language and the learning curve is not very long

http://www.luaplayer.org/

Lua Player
Lua Player 0.9 for PSP (tested on 1.0 and 1.5 firmware) with full source code (if you have a new PSP for Europe, it won't work)

Copy the EBOOT.PBP on your PSP and edit the script.lua for your own great programs and games. The script will be compiled on-the-fly on the PSP, without any compiler on your PC, you just need a text editor! A PNG loader is integrated, so you can write your own games with it, by changing the script.lua and copying all your PNGs to the game directory. And important for newbies (and sometimes for me): It doesn't crash (or at least it should not), but if you pass a null-pointer to a function, you'll get a nice error message, with the line in the script, which caused the error.

WIERD MESSAGING SYSTEM.....

Meetro has announced the new ‘Ultimate Breaking the Ice’ instant messenger program called Meetro. Being created by Paul Bragiel (CEO of Paragon 5) and Wendell Davis III (ex-producer of Cave Barn Studios), Meetro looks to be a smash. The uniqueness of Meetro is the ability to show the proximity in miles how far away each user is from you. “Meetro is the new dynamic way to meet people local to you.” Wendell Davis III exclaims, "Meetro makes finding people within walking distance a breeze -- perhaps even a summer breeze." It will allow users to have their picture and taglines, as well as have AOL AIM, and ICQ support (with plans of MSN, Yahoo and Jabber soon.)

"We've entered an early stage of development for handheld console support, which includes both Sony PSP and Nintendo DS." Bragiel says, “We see the DS and PSP as platforms that were designed to be used for applications besides games. We want to bring social software to these machines.” Unfortunately, we won’t see any of this software in action until Summer, 2006. Features given so far include:

- Instant Messenger program telling how far users are away from each other in miles.
- Includes taglines, user pictures and an extensive customizable user profile.
- The program has AIM, ICQ support. Yahoo support will come out later this month and MSN will be around the corner. Jabber support coming later.

Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3 for PSP

dragula96 has finally released what we’ve all been waiting for, Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3! type='text'>

This seems relevent. Particularly as the PSP is designed to work WITH the PS3.
Drop by our place to get an infra-red program - lets you control your t.v. and other stuff too.
We have TONS of games and apps now, DOOM is curiously addictive... so don't be a stranger - will take them to the do tonight. The drum machine is genuinely fun... if only for a few minutes.

Peter.

PS3 expected to live 10 years in the market?
By Ryan Block

Besides the original Game Boy platform, no system has ever lasted 10 years in the market. Pretty much straight up like that. But that apparently didn’t stop Sony Computer Entertainment Prez Kenny Kutaragi from stating at PlayStation Meeting 2005 that they’re “looking at a life cycle of 10 years with the PlayStation 3” due to the transition to HDTV. Uh, ok, that’s a little oblique—so how do they plan to accomplish this? Why, with “full HD features from the start so that consumers won’t have to buy another version of the console in the future.” Ahem. And what are we to conclude from this? Well, perhaps the money is in Ken’s quote that “the PS3 can’t be offered at a price that’s targeted towards households,” and, “I’m not going to reveal its price today. I’m going to only say that it’ll be expensive.” Sorry for all the quotes, but we’re just laying it down—with previous estimates hovering at about $400 per unit, should we take this as a possibility that the PS3 is getting a big price bump in the wrong direction, and might just perhaps be classing itself right out of the market? Hope not, but we don’t even know what to expect anymore—execs tend not to whine about their gear being too expensive if at all possible.

Inside a park was a gallery (Robotic Dog)
Sony's portable PSP game machine is going mano-a-mano with Nintendo's cool dual-screen DS for top handheld game gadget on both sides of the Pacific. Nintendo's two 3-inch screens, touch-sensitive interaction, "Pictochat" instant messaging and WiFi connectivity to other DS machines have made a hit with players. In Japan, Nintendo just released the machine in four additional colors, packaging them with new virtual pet game, Nintendogs. Now WWJ has found out that Sony's PSP goes one better with a trick that will make technogeeks sit up and beg -- the Japanese version of the PSP apparently (and unintentionally) works electronic wizardry on Aibo the wonder 'bot as well! Japanese entertainment weekly Famitsu put the PSP through its paces in their 15 April issue and sure enough: pressing combinations of buttons on the PSP will make Aibo do different tricks -– no hacking necessary! This is a very basic overview, but, with some more detail, this could really help those out there having problems running homebrew on your PSP. Here is what they had to say:
Pox and Ragable are bringing their first video podcast to those out there who have just heard about the hacking scene for the PSP. First off, this is not for the people out there who already know about what's going on with the PSP scene. If you're interested in what we're doing, please take a look and give us any comments.
This 10 minute video quickly covers what you need to get setup with homebrew apps among other things.
*INTERESTING NOTES:*This was filmed entirely in HD with Pox's Sony HDV camera. Widescreen format for the PSP. The braid is a birthmark ... Naturally grows out blond.
You can get it in our PSP Download section <a href="http://files.pspupdates.com/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,9,862"
